I am a member of group of providers from around the U.S. who are committed to practicing deep listening, helping people in the ways they wish to be helped, and human rights. We meet regularly to explore topics including misdiagnosis; common misunderstandings about extreme states (thoughts about wanting to die, unusual beliefs, auditory/visual experiences); helping people who experience extreme states in a way that respects their dignity, empowers, and supports autonomy; side effects from medications; working in a collaborative, inclusive way with clients and their families; and looking beyond diagnosis to understand how individuals' mental health challenges are rooted in social and environmental factors.
I practice meditation, movement, and expressive arts regularly, sometimes by myself and often with others. This supports my ability to help clients express themselves, cultivate mindfulness, and connect with their inner wisdom. I am currently working towards the Registered Expressive Arts Therapist (REAT) credential.
